We went ahead with getting the blood work done and today I found out my daughter is approved for the pump. I am excited for her but also nervous. We will be getting the supplies within a week and then training starts. They said it could take close to a month to get the training done. She are getting the Medtronic 530g with sensor. I am more excited about the sensor (cgm).
Very exciting – I hope you both love the new pump and sensor. I’ve been using the 530G and Enlite since November, so if you have any questions I’d be happy to help if I can. I’m also part of a patient ambassador program for Medtronic, so again let me know if I can do anything at all to help and I’m happy to try.
Thanks so much Karen. I will let you know. It’s been shipped so the training should start soon.
If you haven’t yet, make sure you google the differences in accuracy between the Dexcom and Medtronic CGM devices. Adults tend to have more patience, tolerance for poking, and body fat than kids. Most people find more accuracy with the Dexcom system. It doesn’t connect to any pump so it works with any pump. There is a return policy for Medtronic if you find that part of the 530G system doesn’t work for you.
